The role
As Medical Director, you will own clinical delivery across Q’s teleconsultation service and help build its medical organisation from the ground up. You will combine patient care, clinical operations and medical oversight of our AI systems.
Indicative time split: ~30% patient care · ~35% clinical delivery and team leadership · ~35% clinical AI, protocols and quality
What you’ll do
Own clinical delivery
- Manage clinical delivery across text, voice and video consultations
- Define consultation, documentation, prescribing, follow-up and escalation standards
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex or high-risk cases
- Monitor care quality, response times, patient outcomes and doctor performance
- Build reliable pathways for referrals, diagnostics and in-person or emergency care
Build Q’s clinical AI
- Create medical evaluations and test cases covering common, complex and high-risk presentations
- Define targets for red-flag detection, triage accuracy, differential quality and treatment safety
- Write clinically correct prompts, decision rules and guardrails that guide AI behaviour
- Create and curate evidence-based medical content for Q’s AI systems to reference and learn from
- Review AI errors and near-misses with product and engineering
- Approve the clinical readiness of new AI workflows before patient release
- Define what AI may handle, what it may draft and what always requires doctor approval
Build the medical organisation
- Recruit, onboard and manage Q’s doctors and allied healthcare professionals
- Train doctors to work safely with AI while retaining independent clinical judgement
- Establish protocols, chart audits, peer reviews, prescribing audits and incident reviews
- Design doctor schedules, escalation coverage, care SLAs and performance standards
- Build a trusted network of specialists, hospitals, laboratories and diagnostic partners
Own clinical governance
- Ensure compliance with applicable NMC telemedicine and professional-conduct requirements
- Oversee patient consent, medical records, prescriptions and clinical accountability
- Support KPME compliance and the clinical aspects of data-protection requirements
- Serve as Q’s senior clinical representative with doctors, partners and authorities
What we’re looking for
- MD/DNB in General Medicine, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- At least 5 years of clinical practice after completing MD/DNB
- At least 2 years of business, administrative or clinical leadership experience
- Experience running clinical operations, managing doctors, building protocols or leading quality initiatives
- Strong understanding of evidence-based medicine, clinical risk and patient safety
- Comfort using AI tools and identifying where human oversight is essential
- Active Karnataka Medical Council registration, or ability to obtain it before joining
- Fluent English and conversational Kannada or Hindi
Good to have
- Experience in telemedicine, health-tech or digital health
- Prior work with a health-tech, teleconsultation or primary care chain
- Experience with clinical decision-support systems, medical informatics or clinical research
- Experience with medical audits, NABH or quality programmes
- Experience building referral and diagnostics networks
